About the event
Multi-instrumentalist Rennie Pearson playing tunes and songs from all the corners of his expansive repertoire, live at Bark, Dunedin.
Covering the music of Ireland, Scotland, Canada, America, India, Japan, originals and who knows what else. This is the concert where Rennie plays whatever he wants on whatever instruments he feels like. The only guarantee is that it will be good.
Most well known for his traveling one man show 'Rennie Pearson: Traditional Celtic Music' Rennie is generally known as a performer of Traditional music from Ireland, Scotland and Maritime Canada. He is also the flute player and front man from the Irish band 'Criu' and was the flute and Bodhran player for the Irish dance show Celtica when they came to NZ. He has performed in many groups both in NZ, Australia and Canada and taught at many different workshops and festivals all focused on traditional music either from Ireland or Scotland.
However in his 19 years of playing music Rennie has developed a repertoire that spans across many different cultures and includes many songs and tunes he has written himself. This one off show at Bark will be chance to see him draw on all those lost corners of his eclectic repertoire in an experience that is perhaps more similar to what you might get if you sat down in his living room to listen to him play.
It pairs especially well with a fine single malt, or whatever your preferred drink might be.
